Where to Stay in Las Vegas for Your Supercar Track Day

The track is a rideshare from any Strip hotel, so pick for your trip, not just the drive. Here is how the areas actually stack up.

Short answer

Stay anywhere on the Las Vegas Strip. The SpeedVegas track is a 15 to 25 minute rideshare from all of it, and no hotel sits at the track itself. The south Strip resorts, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand and Park MGM, are marginally closest, so book those if you want the shortest ride and pick the rest for the pool, the room, and the nightlife you actually want.

Guests ask me where to stay almost as often as they ask which car to drive, usually while they are still catching their breath in the pit lane. The honest answer surprises them: it barely matters for the track. SpeedVegas sits south of the airport, a straight shot down Las Vegas Boulevard, so your hotel choice is about the rest of your Vegas trip, not the drive. That said, a few minutes saved on a hot Saturday morning is a few minutes saved, so here is how the Strip actually breaks down, closest first.

Where should you stay for a Las Vegas track day?

Stay on the south end of the Strip if the drive is a priority. Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, MGM Grand and Park MGM are the closest big resorts to SpeedVegas, roughly 15 to 20 minutes by rideshare. Every one of them is a full Vegas resort in its own right, so you are not trading the trip for the track.

The south Strip is where I send guests who want the shortest ride to their session, especially early risers with a morning booking. These five cover the whole range, from the cheapest room on the Strip to a proper resort splurge.

What if you want the iconic middle of the Strip?

Then stay central and accept a few extra minutes. Bellagio, Caesars Palace and The Cosmopolitan put you in the heart of the Strip, about 18 to 25 minutes from the track, which is a rounding error next to what you gain in dining, nightlife and that classic Vegas view.

Most people are in Vegas for more than the drive, and the central Strip is where the trip itself is best. The track ride is barely longer than from the south end, so if the fountains and the fine dining are your thing, do not overthink the track distance.

How far is each area from the track?

The south Strip is about 15 to 20 minutes from SpeedVegas by rideshare, the central Strip about 18 to 25, and downtown Fremont Street about 25 to 30. Traffic on a weekend can add to any of these, which is why I tell people to treat the booking time as their arrival time, not their departure time.

Here is the practical version, the one I give friends over the phone.

Area Approx rideshare to SpeedVegas Best for
South Strip ~15 to 20 min The shortest ride, big resorts, all budgets
Central Strip ~18 to 25 min Iconic hotels, dining, nightlife
Downtown / Fremont ~25 to 30 min Cheaper rooms, old-school Vegas

Which hotel fits your trip?

Pick by what the rest of the trip looks like, not by track distance. Excalibur and Luxor win on value, MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay give you the classic big-resort experience, Bellagio and Caesars Palace are the date-night splurge, and The Cosmopolitan or Park MGM bring the trendy, group-friendly energy a bachelor party is after.

For the bachelor-party track morning I map out separately, a central hotel with a strong pool and nightlife scene usually wins, since the group is doing more than driving. For a couple building a trip around one big drive, the south Strip keeps the morning simple. There is no wrong answer here, only the one that fits your days.

Is there a hotel at SpeedVegas? No. SpeedVegas Motorsports Park is a racetrack about 15 to 20 minutes south of the Strip, with no lodging on site. You stay on the Strip and rideshare or drive out for your session.
Do I need to stay near the track? No. The drive out is a short rideshare from any Strip hotel, and most guests fold it into a normal Vegas trip. Choose your hotel for the pool, the room, and the nightlife you want, not for track proximity.
How early should I leave the hotel? Treat your booking time as the moment you should already be parked and checking in, not the moment you leave. From the south Strip give yourself 25 to 30 minutes door to door on a busy day, a little more from the central Strip.
